Do you need one?

The holidays are fast approaching and with that comes family and friends.  With a house full of people the sleeping arrangements can get complicated and you may not have enough beds for everyone. Utilizing inflatable air beds, you can turn just about any room in your home into a guest room.

Before purchasing an air mattress you need to answer a few questions:

  1. Who will be sleeping on the air bed?
  2. Where will the bed be stored when not in use?
  3. What is my budget?

1. Choose your airbed based upon who will be sleeping on the bed.  If adults and/or elderly will be using the bed you should consider purchasing a raised air bed. Raised air beds are nearly the same height as a traditional bed and allow the user to get in and out with ease. In addition to being higher off the ground the higher end air beds provide a more comfortable and supportive nights sleep. Cheaper, single type air beds are typically fine for children and teens who will have no problem getting on and off the bed. These work especially well for the very young who may roll off of the bed in the middle of the night.

2. When choosing your bed be sure that you have room to store the bed.  Keep in mind that it is recommended that you store the air bed in a clean, dry place at room temperature.  The garage, attic or storage sheds are typically not recommended for storage as they are susceptible to extreme temperatures.  Very cold or hot temperatures can adversely affect the performance and life span of you inflatable mattress.  A closet or the basement are ideal locations as long as the bed remains dry.

3. Air beds can cost as little as $20.00, but the price can go into the hundreds.  Your cost will be determined by the type and features of the air bed.  But keep in mind that a well cared for air bed will give you many years of use.
